EVENTS – AUTUMN 2024

KINSALE, 5th October, 2.45pm: Join me and Sinead Gleeson with Tara Flynn at Words By Water Literary Festival in Kinsale, Co. Cork. More here.

DUBLIN, 10th October, 6pm: I am taking part in the ISLA Festival at the Cervantes Institute in Dublin in an event called Fascinating Lives, with Fernando Beltrán (Spain), and Irene Chikiar Bauer (Argentina). More here.

BRUGES, 24th to 26th October, times tbc: I am taking part in the opening of the Paper Women exhibition in Bruges, Belgium. I will be interviewed by Mieke Dumont ont he 24th, and will do a further two reading events across the weekend. More here.

DUBLIN, 7th November, 6.30pm, National Library Dublin: At the Dublin Book Festival, I am talking with Martina Devlin and author Emily Hourican in an event called Women in History. More here.

BALLINASLOE, 8th November, time tbc: Launch of Ballinasloe Heritage Society inaugural journal, in which I have a piece about Belle Bilton. More to follow!

DONEGAL, 9th November, 1pm: Literary Lunch at Allingham Festival – announcement and readings of flash and poetry comps. I am judging the flash. And launch of novel by Tom Sigafoos. More here.

UPCOMING EVENTS – NORA

NORA publishes here in Ireland on the 10th April with New Island Books and I have some events/readings coming up to celebrate the book. We have two launch events planned, one each for Dublin and Galway. More below:

26th March, 8pm GMT: American writer Jillian Cantor and I will be discussing bio-fiction, to celebrate the publication of her novel Half Life about Marie Curie. In association with Poisoned Pen Bookstore, Arizona. More here.

9th April, 7pm: Launch online in Dublin on 9th April in association with MOLI. Interview with Katherine McSharyy of the National Library of Ireland. Register here.

11th April – essay about Nora Barnacle on Sunday Miscellany. 9am to 10am on RTÉ Radio 1.

14th April: UCC Creative Writing Programme online event – 6pm. Free event! Register here.

23rd April: Launch online in Galway on 23rd April in association with the Cúirt Festival. I’m interviewed by Elaine Feeney. Time 5.30pm. Free or optional ticket purchase. Book here.

Nuala has been head-to-the-desk, busy editing her forthcoming novel about Nora Barnacle for her new editor in New York – more on that to come soon!

Trinity College Dublin Literary Society, 6pm, 10th October, GSU Common Room: Reading and interview at Trinity College Literary Society, Dublin: Nuala returns to her alma mater to talk to the students at Lit Soc. about her latest novel, Becoming Belle.

Scotland: In late October Nuala is teaching the short story at Moniack Mhor in Scotland with Welsh writer Cynan Jones. More here. FULLY BOOKED.

Group 8 annual exhibition: LEONARDO 500 opens on 15th October, 6pm, Church Gallery, Ballinasloe Library. Nuala has written a flash fiction in the voice of da Vinci’s iconic Mona Lisa for this annual exhibition.

Spain: In November Nuala travels to Spain as part of EFACIS to teach and read to students in universities at Burgos and Logroño.

Dingle Literary Festival: In late November, Nuala is teaching a flash fiction workshop at Dingle Literary Festival and conducting a public interview with Leeann Lane about Dorothy McArdle. More here.
